Mayor's Youth Town Hall - "The Sequel"
The Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) will be holding a Mayor's Youth Town Hall - "The Sequel" at Devonshire Mall in the Bay Court Area. This time, the town hall will focus on hot topic issues that were brought forward at last year's event. The event will brainstorm with youth on solutions to these issues and recommendations that can be made to City Council. Topics include but not limited to: Youth Venue/Facility, Youth Employment, Environment, Race and Ethocultural Relations and Transit Windsor. MYAC is inviting all youth in the City of Windsor to jot down ideas, give suggestions and attend the event. This is the time for Windsor Youth to speak up and speak out to our Municipal government.
TO BE HELD: AUGUST 24th at 7:00P.M. at The Bay Court in Devonshire Mall
YOUTH VENUE/FACILITY
- What do youth want in a facility? (retail section, cafeteria, just a building)
- Where do you think a facility for youth should be located?
- What types of events/activities will be in it?
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT – In partnership with SWOEIC
- What do youth view as barriers to employment today and in the future?
- What actions could be taken now to promote youth integration into the workforce and ongoing development once employed?
- What are the concerns of youth in Windsor and Essex County when it comes to securing and maintaining employment in the rapidly evolving knowledge-based economy within the global marketplace?
TRANSIT WINDSOR
- What types of recommendations do youth have for Transit Windsor?
- What types of programs/ideas do you have to make recommendations to Transit Windsor?
- What solutions do you have on making Transit Windsor more Youth Friendly?
ENVIRONMENT
- What are some of the top environmental concerns in Windsor that we need to address as youth?
- What can youth do to solve/address these concerns?
RACE & ETHNOCULTURAL RELATIONS
- What are some ways for youth to combat racism/discrimination?
- FYI: The City of Windsor has signed a declaration of intent to join the Canadian Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism in March of 2006
