Student & Youth Opportunities Brochure Released! - December 17th, 2007 - Written By: Denny Timm
It is with great pleasure that the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) in partnership with the City of Windsor Human Resources Department informs you of our new brochure, which has been created to provide students throughout our community with information about the Student and Youth Opportunities that exist within the Corporation of the City of Windsor.

The goal of MYAC is to ensure that local youth are aware of the many opportunities available to assist them in gaining essential experience as they continue their working/school career. In an effort to reach this goal the MYAC requested this brochure be established to highlight key employment, unpaid work experience, and volunteer opportunities that are available to the students and youth in our community. This brochure has been printed in such a way that both students and faculty can use it as an easy, valuable resource.

Secondary schools and post-secondary schools should have received a brochure entitled “Student and Youth: Opportunities.” This brochure offers a glance at the various youth opportunities available within the Corporation including:

Secondary School Students
Co-operative Education
Job Shadowing
40 Hours of Community Involvement Program

Post-Secondary Students
Co-operative Education Programs
St. Clair College – Award of Academic Excellence
Internship/Work Experience Placement

Other City Hiring Opportunities
Student Lottery (SUMMER)
Canada Summer Jobs Program (C.S.J)
New Beginnings – Summer Jobs for Youth Program
Summer Jobs Service Program
Summer Recreation Program
Year Round Recreation Instructor

With your commitment, this information can act as an assistant in identifying what particular opportunities you may see fit for students in your school and as a valuable resource to students seeking experience in the world of work. We ask that you make copies of this brochure available in prominent locations within your school.

MYAC continues to work with organizations throughout the community in initiatives like this to help youth further develop their skills and reach their goals.
