Acoustic music, spoken word, comedy and more. On August 12th, International Youth Day, the Youth Arts Council, committee of the Arts Council – Windsor & Region, will be hosting an Open Mic Night at Milk Coffee Bar from 6pm to 8pm. The fundraiser is free to view and everyone is invited to donate and perform. For a rate of $1 a minute, youth can share their talent while supporting the Youth Arts Council. All the money raised will be put towards supporting youth arts.
YAC wants to bring Windsor and Region many more fun events that promote and support young artists. “There’s a cost to everything,” says Chris Richards, a 16-year-old member, “This fundraiser will help us to provide more events that allow youth art to be shown around the city in unique ways.”
On March 1, 2007, the Youth Arts Council was established as a committee of the Arts Council - Windsor & Region (ACWR). The Youth Arts Council consists of youth, aged 12 to 24, who want to make an impact on the community using their talent.
