City buses will begin operating on a summer schedule on Sunday, June 24, 2007. This coincides with opening the new downtown bus terminal. Passengers will be introduced to the new facility at 300 Chatham Street West when the new schedule starts. Transit buses will cease to operate from the 44 University Avenue location at the end of service on Saturday, June 23 according to published timetables (approx 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning).
Minor route modifications are required to redirect buses to the new facility on the following routes: Transway 1A, Transway 1C, Central 3 West, Ottawa 4, Dominion 5, Dougall 6, Walkerville 8, Parent 14 and the tunnel bus.
Transit bus passes and tickets will be sold from this location beginning Sunday, June 24th on a daily basis from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Greyhound tickets will be added to the list of fare media products beginning Tuesday, June 26.
The schedule is adjusted annually to coincide with the arrival of summer and school dismissal. Most significantly affected by the schedule change is the extra service for secondary school students. This year’s summer schedule includes the permanent elimination of the Crosstown 2 Express and the eastbound afternoon bus on the Transway 1C Express.
Printed schedules are available on any transit bus, municipal community centres, arenas and libraries, outlets selling Transit Windsor fare media. There is an error on the weekday Crosstown 2 schedule. The first westbound bus leaves from Tecumseh Mall at 5:20 a.m., not 5:40 a.m.
The schedule includes fully accessible and bike rack equipment, highlighting the time and frequency when this service is available.
A grand opening of the facility will be held the following month.
